On Wednesday, Democrat Senator and 2020 presidential candidate Kamala Harris introduced legislation which would pave the way for “Dreamers” to be employed as Congressional interns and staffers.
Harris said the controversial Dreamers “represent the best of who we are as a nation” and lamented the fact that, despite their alleged desire to “give back and serve the public,” they are held back since “they aren’t eligible to work for pay.”
Dreamers represent the best of who we are as a nation. And there are Dreamers across the country that want to give back and serve the public in Congress. But right now, they aren’t eligible to work for pay. Today I introduced a bill to change that.https://t.co/y4NthU1d9V

Now, according to Harris, “The American Dream Employment Act” will allow DACA recipients, also known as “Dreamers,” to “give back to their country by working for Congress.”
Harris said DACA recipients “are banned from giving back to their country by working for Congress,” by being unable to receive payment, apparently ruling out the possibility of volunteering.
With the 2020 election closing in, Democrat hopefuls such as Harris and others have increasingly sought to appeal to their ever-changing demographic by continuously courting undocumented migrants and their families.
