Actress Sparks Controversy After Saying Her Abortion Resulted in “Free Time, Good Sleep and a Wonderful Career”

Actress Jameela Jamil has sparked social media controversy with a series of provocative tweets about abortion.

On Dec 2nd, she tweeted “To the people trolling me and @GloriaSteinem because we said there is no democracy without a woman’s right to choose…I SAID WHAT I F**KING SAID and you’re clueless if you think I’m going to take it back. My life *is* more important to me than an unborn fetus’ one. Suck on that.”

Jamil followed up a few days later with another provocative tweet, this time referencing how she has received thousands of messages telling her she made a mistake having an abortion 7 years ago.

Receiving THOUSANDS of messages about how I made a mistake having an abortion 7 years ago and how I must be a miserable person… I am in fact a happy, thriving multi millionaire, madly in love, with free time, good sleep and a wonderful career and life. But thanks for checking

Allie Beth Stuckey responded:

Having babies and leading a fulfilling, successful life aren’t mutually exclusive. Yours is a terribly low view of women’s capabilities.

Jorden Collins responded:

Best part of my life was having kids. My youngest is a sophomore in college and I get this wave of joy every time I talk to them on the phone or see them when they visit. Abortions are lies that children are a misery, but time will tell that money won’t buy you happiness.

Responding to Kevin McCullough who asked her “So heartbeats and viability be damned?” Jameela compared a mother aborting a child to a landlord kicking out a tenant.

If it’s at the cost of a woman/little girl/rape or incest victim/ disabled person who doesn’t want to put their life and body through hell for a baby they don’t want and can’t take care of.. YEP. Every. Time. The choice is the landlord’s, not the tenant, nor the neighbour’s.

Undeterred Jamil, tweeted the next day:

I have loved this week’s discussion around abortion. To destigmatize, hyper-normalize and keep this conversation mainstream is the road to us unveiling the misogynists, and winning the fight for body autonomy.
