Abrams’ Campaign Manager blasted after trying to defend her viral maskless photo with masked kids

In a pair of tweets, Stacey Abrams’ campaign manager Lauren Groh-Wargo defended her viral maskless photo with kids, but got a lot of push-back. A large majority of tweets in response are negative.

The photo went viral, sparked outrage, and prompted Donald Trump Jr. to ask “Why is the one person who’s truly at risk of COVID-19 infection the only one not wearing a mask?”

Groh-Wargo tweeted “our opponents took a brief break from licking Trump’s boots this weekend to issue baseless attacks, and it’s more of their typical dishonest, wannabe tough guy fodder to distract from their failures. See the @staceyabrams campaign response here.”

She then added “Stacey trusts science and supports masking in schools as it’s the current CDC recommendation. She wore a mask to the event, and removed it at the podium so she could be heard by students watching remotely and for photos, but only with folks who were masked.”

Here are some of the responses.

Christina Pushaw replied “Wait, does the science say COVID hides when the camera comes out?”

“Well, to be fair, Stacey doesn’t trust math. So science is probably a stretch.”

“WHY did she feel it was important for her to remove her mask for photos but not for the children?”

“Why did she delete other photos from same event? Why is the other adult with the microphone masked?:”

“So teachers in masks can’t be heard normally?”

“So students can’t hear their masked teachers???”
