Women who stole MAGA hat from 7 year old in viral video face hate crime charges

Olivia Winslow and Camryn Amy, the two 21 year-old women who stole a MAGA hat from a 7 year old boy in a video that went viral are now facing hate crime charges.

The incident took place outside the DNC in Delware.

Winslow and Amy were indicted by a grand jury on felony charges that include hate crimes, robbery, conspiracy and the misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

The indicted states the women are charged with crimes “for the purpose of interfering with the victim’s free exercise or enjoyment of any right, privilege or immunity protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, or committed said crime because the victim had exercised or enjoyed said right or rights.”

Delaware Attorney General Kathleen Jennings said “violence in any form is unacceptable, but harming another person, let alone a child because of the expression of their views betrays the principles on which our country was founded.”

Jennings added ““Free speech, free assembly, and free expression are sacred, no matter whether we agree with the opinions expressed, and especially when we don’t.”

In a video, the two girls steal a MAGA hat from a 7 year old boy, despite him chasing them and telling them “that’s somebody else’s hat.”

The boy’s Mom chases them down and they still refuse to give the hat back until others intervene. The girls eventually rudely throw the hat over a fence.
