Speaking to “The Wrap” about her new film “Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go for It,” Rita Moreno, who starred in “West Side Story” discussed her anger at racism still being a problem in Hollywood.
Asked if there has been any differences in the number of roles for Latino actors from when she started her career, Moreno, now 89 said “I’m pained to say it’s still the same problem, the same damn problem.”
“It’s amazing. So far we are the community that still doesn’t have their wonderful big movies,” she continued.
“Where is our ‘Moonlight’?” she asked “Where is any number of movies that the black community has? Why is this not happening for us? It’s disgraceful. It’s so discouraging. I don’t know what the hell is going on.”
