Tuesday, Twitter Public Policy tweeted “Ahead of the Ugandan election, we’re hearing reports that Internet service providers are being ordered to block social media and messaging apps.”
“We strongly condemn internet shutdowns – they are hugely harmful, violate basic human rights and the principles of the #OpenInternet,” the statement adds.
One Twitter user replied to their tweet “Twitter’s like: “Don’t restrict people’s speech, that’s our job.”

This Twitter policy tweet comes just days after the social media company permanently banned President Trump as well as several Trump supporters.
Tucker Carlson sounded off, accusing the social media company of hypocrisy.
