WATCH: Trump’s New Immigration Plan Based on Merit, Not Amnesty

Speaking from the White House Rose Garden on Thursday, President Trump touted his new plans for an overhaul to existing US immigration policy, specifically his “Build America Visa” program, warning Democrats that failing to help will hurt them politically in the future.

“Many of the Democrats have claimed to be for these concepts at different times in their careers, and in many cases, in very recent history,” said Trump. “I hope that they will end up joining me in putting politics aside, putting security and wages first, and pursuing these historic reforms.”

Trump continued, implying that, should Democrats fail to comply with his merit-based immigration plans, “we will get it approved immediately after the election, when we take back the House, keep the Senate, and of course, hold the presidency.”
