WATCH: Trump Supporters Dump Blue Paint on BLM Mural in Front of Trump Tower

A group of Trump supporters dumped blue paint on the BLM Mural in front of NYC’s Trump Tower on New York City’s Fifth Avenue.

Four have now been arrested, according to the NY Post.

Ian Miles Cheong tweeted:

Trump supporters dump blue paint all over the Black Lives Matter “mural” outside of Trump Tower. I support their right to protest. Completely.

Per Spectrum News, the Black Lives Matter mural in front of Trump Tower was covered in paint on Friday for the second time since it was unveiled earlier this month.

Part of the mural’s yellow lettering was covered by blue paint at around 5 p.m.

When police arrived to the scene yesterday afternoon, they found four people with blue paint on their hands and clothes.

Surveillance video revealed three of them poured and smeared paint on the mural.

The NYPD says 39-year-old Juliet Germanotta, 44-year-old Luis Martinez and 25-year-old D’Anna Morgan were each charged with criminal mischief and given a desk appearance ticket.

The fourth person, a 64-year-old woman, was also issued a summons for the illegal posting of flyers.

The mural, which stretches from 56th to 57th streets on 5th Avenue, was also vandalized with red paint on Monday, though it was repainted by city DOT workers shortly after the incident.

It is unclear if the fact that the paint was blue was relevant to the protest. Some supporters of police have used the rallying cry “Blue Lives Matter” on social media or when organizing events.

The mural was publicly criticized by President Trump, who called it a “symbol of hate” on Twitter and said it would denigrate “this luxury avenue.” Trump also criticized the city for spending money on the mural while cutting the NYPD’s budget by $1 billion.

Mayor Bill de Blasio fired back at the president, writing in a tweet that 5th Avenue, along with much of America, including Trump’s “luxury,” was built by Black people.

“We are honoring them,” de Blasio tweeted. “The fact that you see it as denigrating your street is the definition of racism.”

Other Black Lives Matter murals are being painted in all five boroughs. Last week, another was completed in Lower Manhattan along Centre Street, which will be co-renamed Black Lives Matter Boulevard.
