Earlier this morning, President Trump stirred controversy by tweeting:
With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???
Trump critics and media are now reacting in horror.
President Trump has explicitly floated the idea of delaying November's presidential election. Trump has no authority to delay an election, and there is no evidence that mail-in voting leads to fraud. https://t.co/zLmaefYUOi pic.twitter.com/pvgQUw9xus

Here are some of the tweets from Trump critics expressing concern over Trump’s suggestion.
You would never be saying this if you thought you’re gonna win. You’re terrified. Panicked. Desperate. We can literally smell your fear…

Delay the election? Unless Trump takes over the government by military force and suspends the Constitution, it will be President Pelosi on January 20th by default. Because without an election, Trump has absolutely no authority to remain in power unless he does a military coup.

NPR responded to Trump’s tweet, writing:
In a falsehood-ridden tweet, President Trump suggested delaying the November election. Election Day has been set in federal law since 1845 and would require Congressional consent to delay — which is extremely unlikely to happen. (1/3)
