“Squad” member Rep. Rashida Tlaib explained to Rachel Maddow she walked out of President Trump’s State of the Union address because she was triggered by the mere mention of Brett Kavanaugh.
Rashida Tlaib:
I think, you know, even the mention of Brett Kavanaugh for me is a trigger, just as a woman in America, the fact that he, you know, rightfully was accused and having an incredibly strong woman come before the public and the world and tell her story of sexual assault by this person that was appointed to the Supreme Court is just alone, that — I couldn’t stand still and not do anything about it, and I needed to walk away from that.

Per TCO, 3 Democrats including Rep. Rashida Tlaib have revealed they literally walked out of President Trump’s State of the Union address.
Tlaib tweeted:
I walked out of that speech.
The lies, the bigotry, and the shameless bragging about taking away food stamps that people depend on to live—it was all beneath the dignity of the office he occupies.
Shame on this forever impeached president.

10 Democrats chose to skip the State of the Union altogether in boycott.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D – NY)
After much deliberation, I have decided that I will not use my presence at a state ceremony to normalize Trump’s lawless conduct & subversion of the Constitution.
None of this is normal, and I will not legitimize it.
Consequently, I will not be attending the State of the Union.
This is a deeply personal decision for each member to make, and a choice I did not take lightly.
I will be hopping on Instagram Live later this evening to connect with my constituents and follow up with their questions about #SOTU.
For Republicans who allegedly “don’t care at all” about us not attending the #SOTU, they sure do seem to have a lot to say about it

Maxine Waters (D – CA)
To think that I would attend the #SOTU to hear the message of an IMPEACHED president is a thought that in no way would be consistent w/ my fight and struggle against this dishonorable president. I will certainly NOT be there!
Al Green (D – Texas)
Because of an impeached, reckless, ruthless, lawless, shameless, corrupt, & unapologetically bigoted president – who is still engaging in a coverup, the state of the House, the state of the Senate, and the #StateOfTheUnion are divided.
I will NOT attend #SOTU2020.

I'm not interested in listening to this impeached President lie. Therefore, I will not be attending the #SOTU2020 tonight.

Bobby Rush (D – Ill.)
I respect the Office of the President but I do not in any way respect @realDonaldTrump, who, for more than three years, has demeaned the office, and who currently stands impeached. https://t.co/ORF9L0uHgs

Steve Cohen (D – Tenn.)
At the #SOTU2020 #Trump needs to apologize to the American people for his(at very best)inappropriate conduct which a majority inCongress feel was illegal&impeachable https://t.co/Aj8sSjyRq9 a #StateOfTheUnion speech a normal President should try to bring the nation together,

Earl Blumenauer (D – Ore.)
I will #BoycottSOTU, but the crowd will be filled w/ people impacted most by Trump's policies & McConnell's shameful inaction. I gave my ticket to Michelle Freedman, a tireless advocate for lower Rx prices. Her experience is why we're fighting to improve the #StateOfHealthCare
— Earl Blumenauer (@repblumenauer) February 4, 2020
Hank Johnson (D – Ga.)
I won't be attending #SOTU this evening. I can't stomach all the lies. .@repjohnlewis said 3 years ago @realDonaldTrump is not a legitimate president — and John has been proven right time & time again. Trump got elected w/ foreign help & now he's solicited foreign help for 2020.
— Rep. Hank Johnson (@RepHankJohnson) February 4, 2020
Frederica Wilson (D – Fla.)
At tonight’s #SOTU, I want President Trump to talk about what his administration is going to do to protect voting rights and prevent Russian and other foreign interference in the 2020 election.
