In a Sunday interview, Democrat Rep. Rashida Tlaib suggested House Democrats are continuing their demands of impeachment proceedings against President Trump, urging her colleagues to focus on that, rather than the upcoming 2020 election.
“This is not about the 2020 election, it’s about doing what’s right now for our country,” said Tlaib, who later added, “we have an administration that continues to violate the United States Constitution.”
Regarding the split among Democrats regarding impeachment, Tlaib said “I think it is moving toward that. It’s going to demand that.”
Although many Democrats have called for impeachment proceedings against Trump, despite the Mueller report having cleared him of collusion and obstruction allegations, party leaders including Nancy Pelosi have remained hesitant to embrace the idea.
