“Please join us in a moment of silence dedicated to the ongoing fight for equality” the announcer said.

Prior to this ritual they played a rendition of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” a song considered by some as the black national anthem.
During the national anthem, the Houston Texans chose to stay in the locker room, while the Chiefs stood with the exception of defensive end Alex Okafor who dropped to a knee a held out his fist.
