WATCH: Sen. Johnson accuses Dems of double standard, says they “sat by” during riots over the summer

Appearing on “Sunday Morning Futures” Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) accused Democrats of hypocrisy, saying they are condemning conservatives for the January 6th U.S. Capitol riots after they “sat by” during nationwide riots all year.

Johnson said “one thing about conservatives, one thing about Republicans is, we are consistent in our condemnation of violence, of peaceful protests that turn into riots. We condemn it. We want to see those people that were involved in violent acts prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”

“That’s not the same standard that the Democrats use that really sat by, in many cases encouraged the riots that occurred over the summer,” he continued “where there was $1 to $2 billion of property damage, 12 to 19 people killed in those peaceful protests that turned to riots, no condemnation.”

“In fact, there was actually encouragement of that, for example, by the vice president, who encouraged people to donate to a fund that would bail out the rioters. How does that make sense?” he asked.

“So, the double standard, the unequal enforcement of the law is really what troubles an awful lot of people on our side of the aisle,” he added.
