House impeachment manager Rep. Adam Schiff ended the second day of arguments in the Trump impeachment trial in the Senate with an emotional plea to senators, pleading “right matters and the truth matters. Otherwise we are lost.”
Per TheHill as Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), two moderate Republicans and possible swing votes, sat solemnly just a few rows in front of him, Schiff warned that Trump has put his own interests ahead of the nation’s and would do so again.
“You may be asking, how much damage can he really do in the next several months until the election,” Schiff said, before answering his own question. “A lot. A lot of damage.”
“This is why if you find him guilty, you must find that he should be removed. Because right matters. Because right matters and truth matters. Otherwise we are lost,” he said.
