WATCH: Psaki says Biden wanted to “eliminate any lingering doubt” that “the United States wasn’t a country that would welcome refugees”

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki discussed President Biden’s decision to increased the limit of refugee admissions to 62,500 for this fiscal year on Monday following pressure from progressive Democrats including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Psaki said Biden wanted to “eliminate any lingering doubt from any refugee across the world that the United States wasn’t a country that would welcome refugees.”

“Under the Biden-Harris administration, that’s exactly who we want to be,” she added.
