Wednesday, Peter Doocy asked White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki if Vice President Kamala Harris’ decision to visit the border in El Paso had anything to do with the White House wanting to be seen there before former President Trump’s visit that was already scheduled for just a few days later.
President Trump certainly believed his trip played a factor and took credit for Kamala’s visit in a statement.
In the statement Trump says “After months of ignoring the crisis at the Southern Border, it is great that we got Kamala Harris to finally go and see the tremendous destruction and death that they’ve created—a direct result of Biden ending my very tough but fair Border policies…”
“If Governor Abbott and I weren’t going there next week, she would have never gone!” the former President adds.
Psaki did not give Doocy a direct answer, instead only making the general statement “we made an assessment within our government about when was an appropriate time for her to go the border.”
