Rep. Ilhan Omar is once again under fire, this time for new comments about Jewish members of Congress.
Appearing on CNN, Omar expressed no remorse for her controversial remarks where she grouped the U.S. as well as Israel with Hamas and the Taliban. Omar instead accused Jewish members of congress of not being “partners in justice” while claiming that she herself “knows what it feels like to experience injustice in ways that many of my colleagues don’t.”
Avi Mayer of the American Jewish Committee said “Omar’s comments draw on classic antisemitic themes about Jewish clannishness, the notion that Jews only look out for themselves. They’re also plainly false. Jewish lawmakers have been on the front lines, fighting for human rights in America and globally.”
"[Jewish members of Congress] haven't been partners in justice. They haven't been equally engaging in seeking justice around the world."
