In a new interview with Jenna Bush Hager, former First Lady Michelle Obama weighs in on Harry and Meghan’s Oprah interview and says she hopes the royals will use it “as a teachable moment for us all.”
Asked about her thoughts on the interview, Obama said “public service is a bright, sharp, hot spotlight and most people don’t understand it and nor should they.”
“The thing that I always keep on mind is none of this is about us, in public service it’s about the people that we serve,” she added.
Asked about Meghan experiencing racism, Obama said “race isnt’ a new construct in this world for people of color so it wan’t a complete surprise to sort of hear her feelings.”
“The things that I hope for and the thing I think about is this first and foremost is a family and I pray for forgiveness and healing for them so they can use this for a teachable moment for us all,” she concluded.
