WATCH: Mayor Lightfoot asked about calling Kayleigh McEnany “Karen” says “I think it’s pretty straightforward”

Asked about calling White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany “Karen” Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot made it clear she has no regrets and claimed the Trump administration is trying to target female Democrat mayors and make them look bad to score points with the base.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot:

I think it’s pretty straightforward. Look what we’ve seen, unfortunately what we’re going to continue to see is the Trump administration obviously think that they will score some political points by trying to demonize and make Democratic mayors, particularly women mayors like myself, Mayor Bowser, Keisha Lance Bottoms of Atlanta, Jenny Durkin of Seattle. They think they’re gonna take us on and make us look bad because that will score points with their base and that i’ve said and i’ll say again “good luck.”

Per TCO, Donald Trump Jr. fired back at Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot after Lightfoot insulted White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany by calling her “Karen.”

Lightfoot replied to a report that McEnany had called her “the derelict mayor of Chicago” and fired back “Hey Karen. Watch your mouth.”

Don Jr. then fired back at Lightfoot, writing:

Behold, the mayor of a once-great American city that’s been decimated by Democrat control. While hardworking families bar their doors and windows to shelter from the violence, she threatens a working mom who dares to point out her failures.

McEnany countered Lightfoot as well, writing:

While you‘re focused on words, America is outraged by the violence perpetuated in your city.

One person is taking action to stop violence in our streets: President @realDonaldTrump. He’s offered your city help.

It’s a dereliction of duty not to take it.

More on how the feud started.
