During his RNC speech, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) blasted Democrats that are keeping churches closed, while allowing protesting.
Last month NY Mayor Bill e Blasio made it clear BLM protests would be exempt from any sort of government restrictions on large gatherings.
“If you’re just talking about health, we would always say, hey, folks, you know, stay home if you can,” Mayor Blasio explained.
He then added “But we understand that this moment in history people are talking about the need for historic changes.”
Rep. Jordan was not buying it. “Democrats won’t let you go to church, but they’ll let you protest” he said during his RNC speech.
“Democrats won’t let you go to work, but they’ll let you riot. Democrats won’t let you go to school, but they’ll let you loot.” he added.
Meanwhile, reacting to Charlie Kirk making a similar criticism to Jordan, CNN’s Chris Cuomo argued protests and going to church should not be compared.
“I feel badly for him that he believes that that’s the world he lives in, that he’s being kept from going to church.” Cuomo said “Why? Because of a pandemic. I want to go to church. I miss going to church. I understand there’s a pandemic. You know who else does? My priest understands it.”
Cuomo continued “Oh, but you can protest. One has nothing to do with the other. You are dealing with people who are responding in this country to outrageous acts of social injustice. To say, well, it’s the same as going to church, no, it isn’t.”
He added “If you told people they couldn’t protest, if you invoked martial law about these types of situations, you would have chaos.”
