WATCH: Graham supports ending U.S. funding to WHO “They’ve been Chinese apologists”

Appearing on Fox News, Senator Lindsey Graham backed President Trump’s plan to put a hold on funding to the World Health Organization.

Trump on Tuesday said the World Health Organization has made mistakes amid the coronavirus pandemic and he plans to place a “very powerful hold” on funding the group.

“They actually criticized and disagreed with my travel ban at the time I did it,” Trump said at the White House coronavirus task force briefing. “And they were wrong. They’ve been wrong about a lot of things. They had a lot of information early … They seem to be very China-centric. We have to look into that, so we’re going to look into it.”

Fox News reports Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said Tuesday that the World Health Organization (WHO) should not receive funding from the United States under its current leadership, accusing the global health agency of covering for China’s mishandling of the coronavirus pandemic.

“[In]the next appropriations bill, there’s not going to be any money for the WHO,” Graham said on “The Story with Martha MacCallum”. “I’m in charge of the appropriations subcommittee. I’m not going to support funding the WHO under its current leadership. They’ve been deceptive. They’ve been slow and they’ve been Chinese apologists.

“I don’t think they’re a good investment, under the current leadership, for the United States,” Graham added. “And until they change their behavior and get new leadership, I think it’s in America’s best interests to withhold funding because they have failed miserably when it comes to the coronavirus.”
