WATCH: Democrats introduce new bill aimed at curbing presidential abuses

Wednesday, Rep. Adam Schiff introduced the “Protecting our Democracy Act” by tweeting a video introducing the package.

Schiff wrote in his Twitter intro  “After Watergate, Congress passed landmark reforms to ensure that those abuses of power would never happen again. And after three and a half years of Trump, it’s clear we need a new set of reforms — now. That’s why we’re introducing this package.”

According to Nancy Pelosi, the package is “designed to address the president’s staggering litany of abuses and ensure they can never happen again by anyone.”

Adam Schiff, who led the impeaching of Trump last year, said “We owe it to the American people to put in place meaningful constraints on power, fix what is broken and ensure there is never again a Richard Nixon or Donald Trump for either party.”
