Appearing on “Face the Nation,” Democrat impeachment manager Joe Neguse suggested that the impeachment trial could have lasted for years if witnesses were called.
Neguse suggested these extended delays could have been caused by witnesses fighting subpoenas.
Neguse said “It was very clear…that witnesses that were not friendly to the prosecution were not going to comply voluntarily, which meant that we were going to be litigating subpoenas for months and potentially years,” adding as an example “we’re still litigating the subpoena for Don McGahn that the Judiciary Committee issued two years ago.”
Why didn’t House impeachment managers call for witnesses – like @GOPLeader Kevin McCarthy, who spoke with former President Trump on Jan 6? #Impeachment Manager @RepJoeNeguse explains –> pic.twitter.com/yvBa9I03c2
