Appearing on MSNBC, actor Robert De Niro says he was confounded by the level of Trump’s support.
“We need someone to lead us through in a kind of father figure way or mother figure way,” the Goodfellas actor said “To bring us through and show that they love us, care about us, and want our best. They are looking out for us. It’s the total opposite with someone like him. It confounds me how he ever got to be elected. He did. Crazy things happen. That’s what we need in a leader. In any leader. That’s what we were going to get with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.”
De Niro continued “I’m not like political, but I was so angry and so enraged and confounded that he would actually behave the way he did and that people bought it.”
“I now I see many many many people in the country feel this way. I’m sad about other people who don’t. They accepted him and would have voted for him and have voted for him. I don’t know why. That’s all that it was from the very beginning. How could this guy behave this way? That’s all,” he added.
