WATCH: Buttigieg Tells Ellen Limbaugh “has a different idea of what makes a man”

Appearing on “Ellen,” Pete Buttigieg addressed his war of words with conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh.

TheHill reports Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg is responding to Rush Limbaugh‘s controversial remarks that Americans would not elect “a gay guy kissing his husband on the debate stage,” saying the conservative talk show host “has a different idea of what makes a man than I do.”

“Look, I’m not going to take lectures on family values from the likes of Rush Limbaugh or anybody who supports Donald Trump, frankly,” the former South Bend, Ind., mayor said in an interview on “Ellen,” airing Friday.

“You know, when I was packing my bags for Afghanistan, Donald Trump was working on Season 7 of ‘Celebrity Apprentice,'” Buttigieg, a former Navy officer, told host Ellen DeGeneres, to applause.

During his nationally syndicated radio show last week, Limbaugh said voters are “sitting there, and they’re looking at Mayor Pete, a 37-year-old gay guy, mayor of South Bend, loves to kiss his husband on the debate stage. And they’re saying, ‘OK, how’s this going to look, a 37-year-old gay guy kissing his husband onstage next to Mr. Man Donald Trump? What’s going to happen there?'”

“They’ve gotta be saying that despite all the great progress and despite all the great ‘wokeness’ and despite all the great ground that’s been covered, America’s still not ready to elect a gay guy kissing his husband on the debate stage president,” Limbaugh continued. “They have to be saying this, don’t they?”

With his husband, Chasten Buttigieg, in the “Ellen” audience, the 2020 White House hopeful said, “Since when is strength about the chest-pounding and the loud-mouthed guy at the end of the bar? The strongest people I know are not the loudest people; they’re the ones who have the deepest sense of who they are and what they value and what they care about.”

“And one of those people, by the way, one of the strongest people I know is my husband, Brad Pitt,” Buttigieg quipped.
