On Wednesday, 2020 presidential contender Beto O’Rourke as asked whether he would consider casting a vote for competitor Bill de Blasio, the New York City mayor who is also seeking the White House in the upcoming election, to which he responded “probably not.”

“If you weren’t running, would you consider voting for him?” a reporter asked O’Rourke about his support of de Blasio, to which he replied, “Probably not, to be honest,” before attempting to soften the blow of his remarks.

“I was just being honest,” O’Rourke said later, going on to imply that he wasn’t impressed with de Blasio’s campaign efforts.

O’Rourke noted, “we’re so focused on this campaign, and what we’re doing, and what we bring to the table – I may just not see that in the mayor’s campaign.”
