Per WashingtonExaminer, protests for the death of George Floyd turned destructive in London as some chose to vandalize a statue of Winston Churchill on the 76th anniversary of D-Day.
In a video posted to Twitter Saturday morning, an unidentified British man vented his anger to two police officers over their failure to guard a bronze statue of Churchill in London’s Parliament Square.
“It’s disgusting,” says the man. “So, why are you not guarding it now? Should I get all the football lads to guard it now, should I?” asked the man as the police officers asked him not to. “That’s disgusting,” he added, showing a protester standing in front of the statue. “So, as you can see, Churchill has really been hit. We’ve got police here, and it’s been done. Pass the message on: Winston Churchill has been vandalized.”

Thousands have poured through the streets of London during the past week to protest the death of Floyd, who died on Memorial Day while he was in the custody of the Minneapolis Police Department. Protesters refused to heed instructions from U.K. health officials who pleaded with people not to congregate in large groups because of the risk of spreading the coronavirus.
“This protest in London now has nothing to do with George Floyd,” Brexit leader Nigel Farage wrote. “It is anarchy in the face of weak leadership.”
