WATCH: AOC attacks McConnell for disregarding Ginsburg’s “Dying Wish”

In a new video released in the aftermath of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death, progressive lawmaker Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez attacked Senate Majority Leader for ignoring Ginsburg’s “dying wish.”

NPR reported that before her death, Justice Ginsburg told her granddaughter, Clara Spera “My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.”

Former President Obama also made the argument that Ginsburg “left instructions for how she wanted her legacy to be honored” though he was far more vague on what that should mean.

Several Twitter users fired back at AOC’s notion that Ginsburg’s “dying wish” should hold weight.

One Twitter user fired back “There is no requirement to fulfill the politically-based last wishes of those who’ve been appointed to the bench. That’s not how this works. Rest in Peace, Justice Ginsburg. You absolutely deserve that. But your SCOTUS seat is not yours to give.”

Another wrote “It’s not up to the Judge who held the seat. We have to follow the Constitution, even if we are upset at this particular situation. If we want to change the law, then we elect people who will do what we want. VOTE! (Local and state elections are important too!)”
