While touting his new book recently, CNN’s Jim Acosta suggested that the mainstream media has been too lax in their criticism of President Trump and his administration.
When asked, Acosta replied, “Do I have any regrets? I wish, at times, that the press had been a bit more in solidarity with one another,” going on to express his hopes of the media “standing up to this White House” regarding Trump’s criticism.
“I think we’ve missed some opportunities here and there to challenge that,” Acosta said of Trump’s frequent critiques of the media’s coverage, adding, “We’re not just here to report the news, we’re here also to defend the truth.”
Acosta went on to lament what he said was a “dangerous time” for journalists, which he attributed to President Trump.
