Wapo writer accused of a conflict of interest after disclosing her son works for the Biden campaign

Washington Post writer Karen Tumulty caused a stir on Twitter when savvy social media users noticed the disclosure of her son working for the Biden campaign after a glowing portrayal of Biden campaign manager Jennifer O’Malley Dillon.

Daniel Lippman tweeted a screenshot and wrote “Quite the disclosure in this positive @ktumulty profile of Biden’s campaign manager”

Tumulty’s article heaps praise on Biden campaign manager Jennifer O’Malley Dillon, crediting her for “transforming what had been an underfinanced, undisciplined and dysfunctional Democratic primary operation into a general-election machine capable of carrying Biden through to the November election.”

After being called out for a potential conflict, Tumulty replied “Fuller disclosure: My adult son has been working for the Biden campaign for a week as a research assistant. I have been covering politics for 40 years. Should I give up covering politics? Or tell my adult son not to pursue a career he wants? Would love advice from other parents.”
