Walmart will stop the sale of “All Lives Matter” merchandise on its website

According to a new report from USAToday, Walmart will stop the sale of merchandise that says “All Lives Matter.”

Walmart has faced some backlash from progressives on social media who asked why they were allowing the sale of clothing with that slogan.

One Twitter user wrote “@Walmart why are you selling all lives matter shirts?!? Why make it easier for the racists to get their clothing?”

Another wrote “Are you kidding me ⁦@WalmartCanada⁩??? Disgusting. Do better.”

According to USAToday, Walmart gave the following statement:

We fundamentally believe all lives do matter and every individual deserves respect.

However, as we listened, we came to understand that the way some, but not all, people are using the phrase ‘All Lives Matter’ in the current environment intentionally minimized the focus on the painful reality of racial inequity.

Recently, while appearing on CBS News, host John Dickerson asked Vice President Pence why he refused to say the phrase as demonstrators have called on him to do.

Pressed specifically if he’ll say “black lives matter” Mike Pence stood firm with his belief that “all lives matter.”

“So you won’t say Black lives matter?” Dickerson asked.

“John, I really believe that all lives matter.” Pence responded “and that’s where the heart of the American people lies.”
