Appearing on Fox News with Neil Cavuto, Republican Senator Tim Scott said while it’s likely the House will impeach President Trump “there is no way in the world the Senate can act and convict the president of impeachment.”
Scott referenced Ambassador Sondland admitting that Trump told him specifically “NO Quid Pro Quo.”
“One thing is crystal clear, what we heard this week from the House was, no facts, no evidence, nothing that would lead to an impeachment…I am actually more clear that there is no way in the world the Senate can act and convict the president of impeachment because he seems to be innocent of an impeachable offense” Scott told Neil Cavuto.
Scott does expect the House to impeach President Trump and will be shocked if they don’t, citing Rep. Al Green saying “I’m concerned that if we don’t impeach this president, he will get re-elected”
The stark reality for Democrats is nearly every political analyst agrees with Scott.
In order for the Senate to convict and remove Trump from office, every Democrat and Independent Senator would have to vote for conviction and removal along with 20 Republican Senators, a gargantuan feat that few believe will actually happen.
