Appearing on CNN, House Majority Whip James Clyburn said he is willing to sit on the Articles of Impeachment indefinitely if necessary to wait for the Senate to offer a “fair” trial.
James Clyburn:
Even if [Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell] doesn’t come around to committing to a fair trial, keep those articles here. So keep it as long as it takes. If you know and he’s told you what he’s going to do, let’s give him a fair trial and hang him. It’s the reverse of that.

CNN’s Oliver Darcy defended Clyburn’s comments from how Trump War Room interpreted them.
That’s not what happened. Clyburn was making the point that he doesn’t think McConnell will run a fair trial because of the comments he’s made. Clyburn compared it to someone saying ahead of a trial, “Let’s give him a trial and hang him.” He said it’s like “the reverse of that.”

In a separate interview Clyburn said:
I think the American people understand that this Republican party has given itself to this person. They are no longer a Republican party. They are Trump’s party.
