CNN host Dana Bash appeared surprised and admitted that Pelosi’s giddy excitement at handing out “commemorative pens” after the signing of the impeachment articles did not match the supposed “somber” mood the House Speaker publicly and privately has said she wanted to create.
We’re used to seeing signing ceremonies, handing out pens at moments of celebration, when a President is signing celebration, when even sometimes, rare occasions but it has happened when the house sends over a landmark piece of legislation. Um…it was unusual to see that kind of ceremony and handing out the pens and smiling for pictures in this kind of situation where the House Speakers has bent over backwards to say privately and publicly this is somber, this is not a time for a celebration.
The GOP Oversight Committee Twitter account tweeted a video of Dana Bash’s reaction and added:
House Democrats said that #impeachment was “somber” and “solemn.” But today, @SpeakerPelosi held a ceremony celebrating her partisan circus. She took pictures and smiled joyfully for the cameras. There’s nothing “solemn” about that, Madame Speaker. Shameful.
