2020 Democrat candidate Joe Biden suggested Coal Miner jobs could be eliminated for the “green economy” because Coal Miners could “learn how to program as well.”
“I am come from a family and an area where it’s coal mining in Scranton. Anybody who can go down 300-3,000 feet in a mine sure as hell can learn to program as well.”
Biden then explains how some programmers learned through a 19-week training program at a community college. Of course, in reality, there aren’t all that many “programming jobs” that can be obtained after such a short program, especially if someone comes from a background of general labor.
Democrat Joe Biden: “Anybody who can go down…in a mine sure as hell can learn to program as well…Anybody who can throw coal into furnace can learn how to program for God’s sake”
