US Women’s Soccer Team criticized after calling Matching BLM Jackets “not political”

The U.S Women’s Soccer team called their decision to wear matching BLM Jackets “not political.”

“We wear Black Lives Matter to affirm human decency,” the team tweeted “This is not political, it’s a statement on human rights.”

Many on Twitter did not agree.

One Twitter user, Armando Alemany replied “Nonsense, you’re playing with semantics, it’s political. You’re in uniform to play soccer not to be making statements. And, most of you took a knee…it’s political. shame.”

Another replied “It is political And literally everyone agrees that black lives matter. No one has a problem with that. It would be nice to just watch a sporting event without politics.”

Another wrote “It’s a Marxist organization. It is political, but deliberately disguised as a innocuous statement everyone already agrees with.”

Another Twitter user replied “I prefer what other teams have been doing. Making their own message with the same intent but less divisive.”

Most of the players chose to kneel during the national anthem while wearing the BLM jerseys.
