WashingtonExaminer reports Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is donating $3 million to a group started by former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, which is dedicated to improving the lives of black people in the United States.

In a tweet Wednesday, Dorsey said he would give the funds to “advance the liberation and well-being of Black and Brown communities through education, self-empowerment, mass-mobilization to elevate the next generation of change leaders.”

Kaepernick’s group organizes sports camps and civil rights educational programs for black children. The group has engaged in 1,400 cities and more than doubled its participation in recent years, according to its website.

Kaepernick announced last week his foundation would expand its legal defense fund to help bail out arrested “freedom fighters” taking part in protests against the death of George Floyd.

“In fighting for liberation there‘s always retaliation. We must protect our Freedom Fighters,” he tweeted last week.

“We’re also working to file civil rights cases against police for their terroristic acts,” Kaepernick said.
