Trump Org sues NY City for wrongful termination, calls De Blasio’s move “politically motivated”

The Trump Organization has filed a lawsuit against New York City, alleging that Mayor Bill de Blasio’s decision to terminate their contract this year was politically motivated and unlawful.

Per ABC News, the lawsuit mainly takes issue with the termination of the Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point contract, which wasn’t set to expire for another decade.

“The City has no right to terminate our contract,” the Trump org said in a statement. “Mayor de Blasio’s actions are purely politically motivated, have no legal merit, and are yet another example of the mayor’s efforts to advance his own partisan agenda and interfere with free enterprise.”

January, De Blasio declared while appearing on MSNBC  “I’m here to announce that the city of New York is severing all contracts with the Trump Organization. Our legal team has done an assessment, and the contracts make very clear, if a company, the leadership of that company is engaged in criminal activity, we have the right to sever the contract.”

“So the city of New York will no longer have anything to do with the Trump Organization. They have profited from these contracts. They will profit no longer,” he added.
