Trump issues stark warning to Iran over reports of possible retaliation plan over Soleimani’s killing

Monday evening, President Trump sent a stark warning to Iran.

Trump wrote ” According to press reports, Iran may be planning an assassination, or other attack, against the United States in retaliation for the killing of terrorist leader Soleimani, which was carried out for his planning a future attack, murdering U.S. Troops, and the death & suffering…caused over so many years.”

He added “Any attack by Iran, in any form, against the United States will be met with an attack on Iran that will be 1,000 times greater in magnitude!”

Last month Politico reported that the Iranian government is considering an assassination attempt against the American ambassador to South Africa, Lana Marks.

Per Politico “News of the plot comes as Iran continues to seek ways to retaliate for President Donald Trump’s decision to kill a powerful Iranian general earlier this year, the officials said. If carried out, it could dramatically ratchet up already serious tensions between the U.S. and Iran and create enormous pressure on Trump to strike back — possibly in the middle of a tense election season.”

Eugene Gu, an Anti-Trump Twitter personality dismissed the threat despite the Politico report in a reply to Trump.

He wrote “Iran isn’t stupid enough to attack the United States. Because that would be suicide. The scary part here is if the President of the United States is stupid enough to falsely accuse Iran of an attack on the United States. Going to war under false pretenses would be a catastrophe..”

Gu added in a subsequent tweet “The American people do not want another Middle East quagmire costing trillions of dollars, thousands of our lives, and millions of their’s. We don’t want a war with Iran, which would be ten times worse than Iraq and Afghanistan combined. We just want peace this time around.”
