Trump dominates 2024 GOP field in new poll, DeSantis comes in second

A new new Harvard CAPS/Harris poll appears to show the 2024 GOP presidential nomination is likely to be Trump’s if he does run.

Per the Hill “in a hypothetical eight-person GOP presidential primary, Trump holds a clear edge, garnering 57 percent support among Republican voters. DeSantis and former Vice President Mike Pence are nearly deadlocked at 12 percent and 11 percent, respectively. No other would-be candidate tested in the poll registers double-digit support.”

If Trump is not included, DeSantis tops the field at 30% with Pence second at 24% and Cruz third at 14%.

Trump also does very well in hypothetical matchups.

Trump leads Biden 46-40% in the poll and leads VP Harris by a larger margin of 49 to 39%.
