Trump calls NYT report the WH inquired about adding him to Mt. Rushmore “Fake News”

Sunday evening, President Trump called a NY Times report repeated by CNN  that the White House reached out to South Dakota governor Kristi Noem about adding Trump to Mount Rushmore “fake news.”

The CNN report Trump responded to cites a NY Times article:

White House reached out to South Dakota governor about adding President Trump to Mount Rushmore, New York Times reports

Trump responded:

This is Fake News by the failing @nytimes & bad ratings @CNN. Never suggested it although, based on all of the many things accomplished during the first 3 1/2 years, perhaps more than any other Presidency, sounds like a good idea to me!

The NY Times article claims a White House aide reached out to Noem and asked her “What’s the process to add additional presidents to Mount Rushmore?”

The Times also reports Ms. Noem greeted Trump with a four-foot replica of Mount Rushmore that included him in on it, leading to some in the Trump administration to worry she might want to take Mike Pence’s place on the 2020 ticket.
