Per WashingtonExaminer, former FBI lawyer Lisa Page joined NBC News & MSNBC as a national security & legal analyst.
Page, who has been a target of President Trump’s ire for years, joined Deadline: White House on Friday, where the network announced her new role.
In her first appearance in the role, Nicolle Wallace asked her about the federal response to the protests following the death of George Floyd. Floyd, a black man, died after a Minnesota police officer held his knee on Floyd’s neck while also being restrained by three other officers. All of them have been arrested.
She specifically questioned the reasoning behind why a number of law enforcement officials in Washington are not wearing badge numbers, name plates, or any marking that would identify which agency they work for.
Page and Peter Strzok were key players in the FBI’s investigation of the Trump campaign. In text messages, the two discussed the likelihood of a Trump presidency and how they could “stop it.”
Inspector General Michael Horowitz concluded that the texts sent between the two “potentially indicated or created the appearance that investigative decisions were impacted by bias or improper considerations.” Horowitz, however, said there was no evidence that “improper considerations, including political bias, directly affected the specific investigative decisions.”
