Trump blasts GOP Senator Thune “He will be primaried in 2022, political career over!!!”

Tuesday evening, President Trump blasted South Dakota GOP Senator John Thune amid reports Thune called for GOP Senators to reject challenges to the electoral college vote.

“Republicans in the Senate so quickly forget,” Trump tweeted “Right now they would be down 8 seats without my backing them in the last Election. RINO John Thune, “Mitch’s boy”, should just let it play out. South Dakota doesn’t like weakness.”

“He will be primaried in 2022, political career over!!!” Trump added.

Trump’s tweet comes after Thune reportedly said that efforts to object to the Electoral College vote would “go down like a shot dog” in the Senate.

Last week, McConnell as well as Senators John Thune and Roy Blunt were reportedly urging their party to accept Joe Biden as the Presidential election winner during a conference call with fellow Republicans.

Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, a West Virginia Republican who was on a conference call said “there was encouragement on the phone for us to accept the result, as much as it’s not what we would have envisioned for the next four years, and to try to do what’s best for the American people, which is to look forward.”

In regards to objecting to the electoral college vote results, per Alayna Treene, a source on the call said McConnell told the conference: “I hope there’s zero sentiment for it.”

Thune reportedly said “It would be great if there were no members that took up that issue.”
