Appearing on NewsmaxTV, Senator Tom Cotton said NBA Star LeBron James “ought to be ashamed of himself” and “ought to apologize” for his controversial “You’re Next” tweet he later deleted.
Cotton asked “What LeBron James did is jump to the conclusion and incite violence against this officer, and he since, I think, recognized what a bad mistake he made by deleting that tweet, but is the NBA really OK with that kind of statement? Is Twitter OK with that kind of statement?”
“LeBron James consistently shills for the Chinese Communist Party for the sake of making a few bucks in the Chinese market,” he continued “yet he immediately jumps to the worst kind of conclusions about his fellow citizens who are trying to protect our streets and keep our communities safe. He ought to be ashamed of himself, and he ought to apologize.”
Per NBC News “Body camera video appears to show a fight when the officer arrives. Two females are in a confrontation, and one falls to the ground in front of the officer. The girl who was later shot appears to move toward another person near a car, and the officer appears to repeat, “get down” before firing four times.”
LeBron wrote after he deleted his original tweet:
ANGER does any of us any good and that includes myself! Gathering all the facts and educating does though! My anger still is here for what happened that lil girl. My sympathy for her family and may justice prevail!
I’m so damn tired of seeing Black people killed by police. I took the tweet down because its being used to create more hate -This isn’t about one officer. it’s about the entire system and they always use our words to create more racism. I am so desperate for more ACCOUNTABILITY
