Tlaib “Today, I cast my DNC ballot and voted NO on the proposed platform”

Saturday evening, “squad” member Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) shared that she voted “NO” on the proposed DNC ballot. Tlaib also indicated that she was voting to nominate Bernie Sanders despite the fact he dropped out of the race in April.

Tlaib wrote “Today, I cast my DNC ballot and voted NO on the proposed platform. I constantly hear from constituents demanding we push for a single-payer system and away from this for-profit system that is leaving people to suffer and die just because they cannot afford health care.”

She added in a second tweet “As a party, we must push for a future where every resident has the ability to thrive. That means we need a platform that works to rid our society of oppression and greed. Unfortunately, in my view this platform does not do enough. 2/2”

The current Democratic party platform includes a public option for health care and differs from the single-payer “Medicare for All” proposal that was pushed by Bernie Sanders and Eilzabeth Warren.

Tlaib endorsed Bernie Sanders for President and has not formally endorsed Biden, though she has indicated she will help him defeat Trump.
