Don Jr. Blasts Time Magazine for Choosing Greta Thunberg as “Person of the Year”

Time Magazine has sparked controversy by choosing teen climate activist Greta Thunberg as their 2019 person of the year.

Don Jr. criticized the choice, tweeting:

Time leaves out the Hong Kong Protesters fighting for their lives and freedoms to push a teen being used as a marketing gimmick.

How dare you?

The YouTube reaction to the choice has been largely negative.

The official Time magazine YouTube channel video has over twice as many thumbs down as thumbs up at this time.

The CBS This Morning YouTube channel video has over five times as many thumbs down as thumbs up at this time.

The MSNBC YouTube channel video also has over twice as many thumbs down as thumbs up at this time.
Conservatives blasted the decision on Twitter while liberals were mostly supportive.

John Cardillo called the choice “The final nail in ⁦Time’s credibility.”

Many argued the Hong Kong protesters should have won.

Robby Starbuck wrote “Hong Kong protestors won the vote but we know left wing institutions have trouble accepting that they didn’t get what they wanted so @Time made Greta the “Person of the Year” anyways.”

Another Twitter user wrote A little unhappy that Hong Kong protestors were not chosen.. But still, congratulation.
We have the same purpose to make the world better.

Dan Rather defended Greta, writing “Time’s Person of the Year is teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg. Cue snark and vitriol from those cheerleading the destruction of our planet. The youth have every right to pass moral judgement on insufficient urgency & action. They’ve no choice but to live in what we leave.”

Greta Thunberg herself wrote:

Wow, this is unbelievable! I share this great honour with everyone in the movement and climate activists everywhere.
