Friday, Senate Republicans blocked a bill spearheaded by Democrats for creating a commission to investigate the pro-Trump riot at the US Capitol on Jan. 6.
The vote was 54-35, with only 6 Republican Senators joining Democrats.
The 6 Republican Senators who voted alongside Democrats are:
Mitt Romney (Utah)
Lisa Murkowski (Alaska)
Susan Collins (Maine)
Rob Portman (Ohio)
Ben Sasse (Nebraska)
Sens. Bill Cassidy (Louisiana)
Seantor Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) missed the vote because he had a “family commitment,” but said he would have voted in favor of advancing the bill.
In a speech prior to the vote, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer asked “what are you afraid of, the truth? Are you afraid that Donald Trump’s Big Lie will be dispelled?”
