Texas Republicans say Trump’s upcoming border visit forced VP Harris trip

Multiple Republicans are giving former President Trump credit for VP Harris’ border trip to El Paso.

Texas Rep. August Pfluger said “It took months of pressure from those of us in Congress, Texans along the border, and a visit from President Trump himself to finally convince ‘Border Czar’ Vice President Harris to visit the border first-hand.”

Texan Rep. Pete Sessions told Fox News in an email “Let’s just say, there are no coincidences in Washington.”

Texas Senator Ted Cruz also credited Trump, saying “so suddenly President Trump is going to the border. They realized, oh, crap, we’ve got to do something.”

Trump himself also took credit in a statement where he said “after months of ignoring the crisis at the Southern Border, it is great that we got Kamala Harris to finally go and see the tremendous destruction and death that they’ve created—a direct result of Biden ending my very tough but fair Border policies…”

“If Governor Abbott and I weren’t going there next week, she would have never gone!” he added.

Wednesday, Peter Doocy asked White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki i Harris’ decision to visit the border in El Paso had anything to do with the White House wanting to be seen there before former President Trump’s visit that was already scheduled for just a few days later.

Psaki replied simply “we made an assessment within our government about when was an appropriate time for her to go the border.”
