Texas GOP Candidate rattles Dems after proposing ban on Chinese students in Texas Universities

Texas House candidate Shelley Luther caused a stir on social media by proposing a ban on Chinese students from Texas Universities.

Luther became a viral sensation when she refused to close her Salon during the COVID lockdown and was eventually briefly imprisoned before being released.

“Chinese students should be BANNED from attending all Texas universities,” Luther said in the Wednesday tweet that has since been deleted. “No more Communists!”

Luther writes in a follow-up tweet she feels state’s taxpayers “should not be subsidizing the next generation of CCP (Chinese Communist party) leaders” calling it common sense”that CCP members “should not have access to our schools.”

Texas State Rep. Gene Wu, who is Asian took offense to Luther’s tweets and accused her of racism.

“Luther’s statements are ignorant, hateful, and incite violence against not only Chinese Americans, but all Asian Americans,” Wu said in a statement. “To casually conflate all Chinese students in America with actual registered members of the ruling party in the People’s Republic of China is not only ignorance of an extreme nature, it is also the type of rhetoric that drives anti-Asian hate crimes.”

Luther did not back down when asked to comment, saying “It doesn’t surprise me that a socialist Democrat who doesn’t even know how to show up to work thinks the position that communist Chinese citizens should not access taxpayer funded state institutions is racist.”

Luther tweeted “It doesn’t surprise me that a socialist Democrat who doesn’t show up to work thinks the position that Communist Chinese citizens should not access taxpayer funded state institutions is racist. Texas Republicans agree with me on this. @GeneforTexas is an enemy of the people.”

Luther also tweeted “Oh Gene, simping for the CCP isn’t cool.
I can’t wait to kill your bills :)”
