Teacher accused of urging Covid infected people to cough on Trump resigns

A Rhode Island teacher that has been accused or urging COVID-19 infected people to cough on President Trump has resigned.

NBC10 reports Woonsocket teacher accused of urging people infected with the coronavirus to cough on President Donald Trump has resigned.

The Woonsocket School Committee voted 5-0 Wednesday night to accept a settlement agreement with Amy Bednarz.

As part of that agreement, Bednarz tendered her resignation.

Bednarz allegedly tweeted in March: “Somebody with Covid-19, I will pay you to cough on #Trump.”

In subsequent post, she identified herself as a sixth-grade ELL teacher at Villanova Middle School in Woonsocket. The account has since been deleted.

Education Commissioner Angelica Infante-Green also responded to the accusations, saying it was not acceptable and “not representative of the overwhelming majority of Rhode Island teachers.”
